New Delhi, Business Desk. Telecom company Bharti Airtel and the country’s third largest bank Axis Bank launched the Airtel Axis Bank Credit Card on 7 March. This partnership has been done to strengthen the development of the country’s digital system. Amitabh Choudhary, MD and CEO, Axis Bank said that Axis Bank will help widen access to credit and various digital offers for Airtel’s 340 million customers.
On the other hand, we will leverage Airtel’s wide reach and services ranging from mobility and DTH to utility bill payments, which will help our customers rapidly support the digital economy, Choudhary said. Gopal Vittal, MD & CEO (India & South Asia), Bharti Airtel said that the company is building a financial services portfolio as part of its endeavor to deliver world-class digital services to its customers.
The alliance is expected to help both companies enter Tier II and III markets by enabling the adoption of digital payments, the companies said in a joint statement. The offers include pre-approved loans, buy now pay later, cashback, special discounts, digital vouchers and a co-branded credit card for Airtel customers.
